Free Painting Leads: Generate Calls for Your Business
My 4 methods for getting free painting leads and advertising my businesses for free with Facebook Groups, Instagram, and Nextdoor.

1. Free Painting Leads from Facebook
Boost your company’s Facebook post views for free by sharing in multiple local Facebook groups.
First, join multiple local Facebook groups with your personal profile.
Search Facebook for groups using the keywords below. Join groups with 1000+ members.
- (your city) community
- (your city) marketplace
- (your city) market
- (your city) connection
- (your city) yard sale
- (your city) garage sale
- (your city) buy & sell
- (your city) for sale
- (your city) what’s for sale
Repeat for groups in nearby cities and neighborhoods you serve.
- Answer admission questions when prompted: If asked about residency, state you work in the area your company serves.
- Review group rules: some ban marketing, others allow it on specific days, while some have no restrictions.
Share only new posts to maximize visibility. Re-post old content as new to leverage Facebook’s algorithm favoring recent posts.
Post a new photo on your business profile with a caption highlighting cabinet painting benefits, avoiding overly salesy language.
Avoid sales-oriented language like “get a quote” or “call today”. Share genuine moments or achievements to bypass users’ ad filters.
Now, click on the share button below the post. Two options should pop up:
- Share…
- Share to a Page
You will click “Share to a Page”. On the new popup, on the very top, you should see a title that says “Share on a Page You Manage’. Click on that so that you can change it to “Share in a Group”.
Below that, make sure you are sharing from your personal profile, not your business profile. Your business profile uploaded the post, but you will use your personal profile to share the post to the local groups.
Find a group to share your post. Add a non-salesy comment about the image when prompted.
Post, then repeat the process with most or all local groups you’ve joined.
This strategy builds brand awareness over time, not immediate leads. Consistent posting keeps your company in potential customers’ minds.
Key follow-up: Invite those who like or comment to follow your business page. Always respond to comments, even with a simple “thanks”.
Post regularly, twice weekly. Reuse old photos when needed. Mix in memes or inspirational content. Avoid daily posting to prevent audience fatigue.
2. Instagram Strategies
Three types of Instagram posts:
- Standard: Finished projects, before/after shots, team at work
- Creative: Close-ups of equipment, team fun, vehicles, unique project details
- Unrelated: Memes, inspirational content, homeowner tips, local business highlights
For each post, include a description: a short story, joke, or anecdote using emotive language.
Use emojis to add personality and boost brand recall. Include questions to encourage comments and improve algorithmic ranking.
Select hashtags to increase post visibility. Keep a list in your phone’s notes app for easy copying. Use 1-3 hashtags in the post description, add the rest in comments.
Place most hashtags in comments to maintain focus on photo and description while retaining discoverability. Use these cabinet painting hashtags, but stay updated on trends and monitor engagement:
- #whitekitchen
- #kitchen
- #dreamkitchen
- #kitchendesign
- #customkitchens
- #beautifulkitchens
- #kitchenremodel
- #kitchentransformation
- #kitcheninspo
- #paintedkitchen
- #charmingkitchen
- #kitchensofinstagram
- #kitchenrenovation
- #cabinets
- #homeinterior
- #homestyle
- #homeinspiration
- #homerenovation
- #decor
- #paint
- #inspiration
- #happy
- #inspiring
- #instamood
- #love
- #instalike
- #picoftheday
Include local hashtags and add your city/neighborhood location to each post for nearby visibility.
What to put on your profile:
Here’s a concise version combining those paragraphs:
- List cities/areas you serve
- Include a call to action (e.g., “DM for a quick quote”)
- Add your website link
Finally, engage with other accounts to boost visibility:
- Follow and interact with local businesses
- Connect with other painting trade businesses
- Focus on industry-related local businesses (realtors, designers, contractors)
3. The Nextdoor App
Create a business profile for your painting business on Nextdoor to make it easier to get recommended by local members.
Use your personal profile to post a message to your neighborhood’s feed talking about your company’s services. Always include an image to attract attention
On Nextdoor, users expect business promotions so ese more direct sales language, but limit promotional posts to 2-3 times monthly.
Share stories and interesting content regularly. For promotional posts, consider offering discounts (e.g., code “NEXTDOOR”) to appeal to deal-seeking users.
Regularly check Nextdoor for:
- Recent posts seeking painting work
- Search “painting” for relevant requests
Comment on these posts recommending your company.
4. Use Your Google Business Profile

Optimizing your Google Business Profile is easy. Here’s what you need to know:
Fill out everything: Make sure your profile is complete. Add your business hours, phone number, website, and services. The more info you give, the better.
Use good photos: Put up clear pictures of your work. Show before and after shots of paint jobs you’ve done. This helps people see how good you are.
Ask for reviews: When you finish a job, ask happy customers to leave a review on your profile. Good reviews make you look trustworthy.
Answer questions: If someone asks a question on your profile, answer it quickly. This shows you’re on top of things.
Post updates: Share news about your business, like special offers or new services. This keeps your profile fresh.
Use keywords: In your description, use words people might search for, like “house painting” or “interior paint job.”
Add your service area: Let people know where you work. This helps you show up in local searches.
Respond to reviews: Thank people for good reviews. If you get a bad one, respond politely and offer to fix the problem.
Use the messaging feature: Turn on the messaging option so potential customers can easily contact you.
Keep info up to date: If anything changes, like your hours or phone number, update your profile right away.
